Diseases and Addiction
Disease and Addiction
Holistically speaking...
Anger stores in the liver. Regret stores in the pancreas. Fear stores in the kidneys.
Worry stores in the spleen. Sadness, sorrow, and grief store in the lungs and heart. This is why it is
very important to express yourself, to release your emotions. Failure to release your emotions
results in repressed emotional responses which is very injurous to the body. In many cases,
repressed
emotional responses are the result of conditioning or programming from early childhood. I often
remember my mother saying when people came over..children are to be seen..not heard. If this is
a repeated action over and over it is programmed into you and as a adult..you act this out!
Repressed emotional responses play a most pivotal role in addictions and Disease. Most addictions are a
subconscious maneuver to fill up a void, usually a spiritual void. Addictions are
subconsciously developed in order to escape from things, to blank out from things, to not face
things. Many people develop an alcohol problem due to a subconscious desire to numb anger and
other emotions such as hurt. A sense of failure in life, doing unethical things when you know
they are unethical, living up to certain expectations set by others, etc. also may lead to a
subconscious desire to numb the pain caused by failure and/or unethical actions. You can see
this in many judges, attorneys, law enforcement officers, business professionals, professional
athletes, and college students.
Many people start smoking in a subconscious attempt to numb various emotions. The menthol in
cigarettes calms the lungs and the nervous system. The greatest remedy for
addiction is living your life predicated upon truth. Truth is great for the spirit. Truth feeds
and strengthens the spirit. Many religious people also get addicted to substances. Why?
Because they don't live their lives predicated upon truth. It's one thing to talk Jesus, Bhudda
or Allah, and another thing to walk Jesus, Bhudda or Allah. Talking God won't get the job
done. You must live God in order to get the job done. Truth and walking God prevents spiritual
voids. They keep the heart overflowing with joy, happiness, peace, tranquility, courage, and
love.
Many people who feel God has abandoned them will also turn to substance abuse to numb the sense
of hurt, pain, apathy, and let down.
There are a plethora of potent and effective herbs that are great for the lungs and the
respiratory system. These herbs include pulmonary, expectorant and demulcent herbs and
include Mullein (leaf/flowers), Lobelia, Fenugreek, Coltsfoot, Boneset, Comfrey, Marshmallow
(Althea), Licorice, Pleurisy, Slippery Elm bark, White Pine Bark, Hyssop, Eucalyptus, Yerba
Santa, Elecampane, Ground Ivy, and Horehound.
We can talk about liver and kidney and all the other herbs in a few days!
